A LITTLE ABOUT HERBERT   aka Dr. 'O'
Herbert is a Dublin trained medical practictioner.  He first practised in Canada from February 1970 to May 1980.  His first practice was in Brock, then Saskatoon all in Saskatchewan. In November 1971 he moved to Hearst, Ontario from where in May 1980 he returned to his country, Nigeria. He became a Canadian Citizen in April 1975. After serving as a senior medical officer at the General Hospital Onitsha, Anambra State, he moved to Owerri, Imo State in 1982 as a co-director of St. Joseph's Hospital, a family hospital.  He eventually met and married Uba and the marriage is blessed with three children: Obiora, Adaeze and Amaka. He also opened his own hospital, Dubba Cottage Hospital in Awara, Imo State and was also a co-director of Snow Whyte Hospital and Maternity in Owerri, Imo State with two other colleagues. He finally came back to Canada in January 1997, and settled in Hardisty. His family joined him in February 1999. In December 2002 another move was made to Strathmore, also in Alberta where the family is presently located.

He is popularly known as 'Dr. O' by his patients and staff.  He loves his job and happy to make a difference in people's lives.   Herbert might take the family to Dublin this summer to visit his 'Alma Mater' Royal College of  Physicians and Surgeons, Dublin to revive the Irish in him. Obi is hoping to take after his dad in medicine one day and taking us to Dublin may be a good thing for the 'young doctor'...we hope.

We are all in good health and managing very well.

We can't make it to Nigeria this year for a visit but will definitely visit next year.

To our families and friends in Nigeria.
And to our families and friends all over the world
Special thank you to our friends in Hardisty, also Dr. and Mrs. N. T. C Agulefo and family, Prof. and Mrs. Ike Azogu and family who saw us through difficult times, especially when I lost my mother in Nigeria in May 2001. It was a very difficult time for my family and I but your love and support pulled us through. May God be with you all!

We hope to make new friends and adjust very well in Strathmore and will always be a part of you  in anyway we can.

Thank you very much for your friendship.

Herbert loves sports eg. Ice Hockey, which he never played, but he was very good in Soccer, Track and Field while at P.M.G.S Oguta and St. Gregory's College, Lagos; being a member of the first team in both Colleges. Even while in practice in Hearst Herbert formed a Soccer Club and many Nothern Ontario medals were won by the team, with Herbert as the Captain. With Arthritis now visiting Herbert, he only enjoys Lawn Tennis at present.
